Myfriend Wayne Straw was an X-Ray technician in a mash unit in Vietnam. He was drafted and sent overseas as soon as he finished x-ray school. He worked in a mash unit throughout his tour and returned home to work as an X-ray technician and a teacher.

My uncle Bob Eagle of Dallas Tx.,was an infantryman during the battle of the bulge. When the german tanks attacked,a shell hit a tree and a chunk of wood took off his right leg below the hip. After the war the army gave him a wooden leg. He worked at sears for 40 years. He had a son Jim,who was a vietnam vet and is now stricken with Ms. He was a hero too.

My grandfather Stanley J.Bryant of Lawton,OK.,fought with the AEF at Belleau Wood,St.Mihiel, and the Argonne Forest. He also was a stretcher bearer and wrote a home newspaper column to his home town,Erick. Having been a barbershop quartet singer before the war,he was unable to do so after the war because gas injured his vocal cords. He became the school principal of the Pawnee Okla. schools later in his career. Also,he served as company bugler. It was B-company.

My father and I fought like crazy when I was a teenager and I was pretty sure I hated him. Now I understand why he did what he did, why he served in the military for 32 years, why community service was so important to him, and why he wouldn't let me date a guy who honked at the curb but wouldn't come to the door to meet him like a man. I am about to become a high school teacher and I owe my decision and the wonderful quality of my life to my father.

Honoring Stephen Gregory Marshall for his valiant service to the United States and returning from his service in Vietnam, injured in the line of duty, withthe heart of a lion and the courage to grow and be of man of kind, loving and dedicated character. War saw his bravery, but did not harm his gentle and caring heart.
Thank you Stephen for being a great American military officer and returning to grow and become a wonderful man and human being.
In my heart you will always be loved and revered. In the hearts of all Americans, you will be forever saluted in the spirit of gratitude.

I knew two uncles fairly well as a boy. Harry served in the U.S. Army at the end of WWII. He drove German prisoners down from Hitler's "Eagles Nest". My other uncle, Paul, served in the U.S. Navy and was present at several violent battles in the Pacific, including the Battle of the Coral Sea. Harry is gone now and Paul is in poor health. I honor them both for their courage and their true warrior hearts. I also honor them for the kindness they showed me on more than one occasion.

Dad was a Marine Corp veteran of WWII. He was involved in many of the campaigns we hear about still today. My two older brothers and I served basically at the same time but in different branches. Mike retired from the USN, Dick from the USAF and myself did 7 years in the Marine Corp.

My father was on the Yorktown, (the second one,) as a carpenter. All of the Navy were also firemen. A returning plane crashed on the deck and its guns discharged, sending shells through the deck to the work places below. He was wounded but didn't receive the Purple Heart because it was friendly fire. As if there is such a thing as "friendly" fire. A proud moment happened when he met Admiral Zumalt. He saved a picture from when Zumalt shook his hand, though I don't remember what for.

I had three uncles in World War II.
My late uncle Arnold served in Patton's army in France and Germany.
My uncle Bud was in the Navy, and was wounded at D-Day. He also fought in the Pacific. I have always enjoyed his stories and the pride he takes in what he did.
My uncle Arthur was killed in Belgium in early 1945. I wish I'd had the chance to know him.

My father, Chris F. Bracewell was a US Army veteran. He served in an Army training camp in Texas as a cook. He was injured in an accident and lost one of his eyes.
My Uncle, Clarence (Jake) Bracewell was an Army veteran who served the US in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam.
My uncle, Mack Baldwin, was a Marine Corps veteran of WWII. He was captured by the Japanese on Battan and was one of the survivors of the infamous "Death March."
My cousin, Marvin Conway was an Army veteran who served in Viet Nam.
I am proud of all these men and though they have all passed away, I will always honor and remember them.
